Thursday Theme .. Heat
This week's Thursday Theme is heat. Ceci n'est pas un chilli.
This chilli was grown in the window box on our balcony; the chillis have grown much better than I expected. They're hot, yet very tasty at the same time. A disturbing fact about chillis I only discovered this year is that the ripening process goes green, *black*, red; you just have to sit through the unappetising-looking bit.
So hurrah for chillis. Unhurrah for tomatoes, which have grown well but have a horrible gritty texture, and for strawberries, which have attracted strawberry-eating creatures other than Mr Muchly and myself.

Witchy Tip(in case you don't already know): Excess chillis can be dried (in a very low oven) or frozen (in a plastic bag in a plastc box in a plastic bag unless you like chilli flavour in everything). Frozen keep forever - we're still using some from 5 years ago!
If you like cucumbers, try them next year. They grow brilliantly in pots and are very prolific. We've had 50-odd off 6 plants.

Thats a top pic - grew some chillis the other year and put them in oil - not sure where thats got to. Got some more growing as we speak - still green though :D
