dear Somewhat,

how art thou, in the wilderness of Provence? i started reading a book series that i thought you'd like, if you haven't read them already (i betyou have) - Fablehaven by Brandon Mull. the second book is The Rise of the Evening Star, third book is due out in 2008. it's about a preserve for mythical creatures and the hilarity that ensues. well, and demonic danger. hilarity and demonic danger. always a good combination.

hope you're doing well or something close to it.

dear Somewhat,

Bartimaeus Trilogy, by Jonathan Stroud. Most likely old news to you, but Roo and I just finished them off, and - sweet Mary, mother of Jeebus, the books were great! We just finished Fablehaven 3. I enjoyed reading it, but I feel as I'm reading that the characters are one-dimensional. Have they *become* that way, or were they so all along? (maybe i was just distracted by the fairies, and demonic danger. hilarity and demonic danger - good stuff.)

recently read some Jules Verne, and I was surprised to find how much I enjoyed it again. Pete read From the Earth to the Moon, and we both read Around the World. i also just polished off the October Dreams anthology of short horror. It was published a few years ago, but I am slow to hear about things. One might think, for a person who likes to read, that I would keep up on the publishing houses newsletters and websites...

what are you reading? i'm going to visit your shrine and leave little comment offerings for eternity.
